The YYC International Facilities Project (IFP) was one of the largest capital construction programs in Alberta’s history, adding over 2.2 million square feet to Calgary International Airport and doubling its capacity. The new Pier E terminal was designed to handle projected growth to 27 million passengers annually by 2035, including 22 new aircraft bridge positions, state-of-the-art baggage handling, and over 70 shops and restaurants.

The project also included construction of Canada’s longest runway at 14,000 feet — the first in Canada to use 100% LED runway lighting.

NLMJ Trucking provided aggregate and material hauling services in support of site development and construction logistics at YYC — contributing to one of Western Canada’s most complex active-airport construction projects.

Stoney Trail (Highway 201) is a 101-kilometre freeway encircling Calgary. First conceived in the 1950s, the full ring road was completed in December 2023 — nearly 70 years after it was first planned. Construction spanned multiple phases: Northwest opened 2009, Southeast in 2013 ($769M P3), Southwest Tsuut’ina Trail in 2020, and the final West leg in December 2023, completed ahead of schedule with 9 km of new freeway, 24 bridges, and 6 new interchanges.

NLMJ Trucking contributed hauling services across multiple phases of the Stoney Trail project — moving aggregate, dirt, and asphalt to support one of the most significant highway projects in Alberta’s history.

The $615 million Deerfoot Trail Improvement Project — launched in 2023 and completing in late 2027 — adds a fourth main lane in both directions, constructs 7 new bridges, rehabilitates 2 existing bridges, reconfigures 8 interchanges, and resurfaces approximately 70 km of lanes along Alberta’s busiest freeway.

When complete, the province projects a 15% faster morning commute and 22% faster evening commute, saving Calgarians 900,000 hours annually. Aecon Group is the lead contractor across four separate contracts.

NLMJ Trucking has supported materials hauling on the Deerfoot Trail improvement corridor — moving soil, aggregate, and construction materials across one of Calgary’s most active highway construction zones.
